Stag Party Tips

Running a stag party takes a lot of organisation
- so start planning well before the date.

Hold the Event Well Before the Wedding
The groom needs to be fully recovered for the big-day. A dash to the church on the day itself by a bleary-eyed groom will not go down well with the bride and will be a shocker for the photos

Ask the Groom
I know it is tempting to plan a surprise for the Groom, but he may have strong views about certain things and whilst it would be a 'laugh', it is supposed to be a great memory for him too. So make a few basic enquiries of likes and dislikes, and what he can afford - unless you are all treating him!

Lads & Dads
It is not unusual for the older relatives of the bride and groom to be involved in the Stag Do so you need to make sure they are going to enjoy the event too and they can take part in any activities you have planned

Be Clever
Pick an activity that the groom will enjoy or a venue that has some meaning to him. Lay on a few nice surprises - like contacting a long lost friend and getting them to turn up as a surprise.

Get the Money
You won't have any trouble getting people to say they will come but extracting their money might prove harder. If you itemise the costs at the outset and give them a deadline to pay the money or their place will be cancelled you may find they will cough up.

Plan it Well
Check the calendar for important events that may result in poor attendance. Big sporting events, birthdays other weddings or a public holiday. Best check the weather for the type of activity planned too.

Don't Ignore It
Once the activity / venue/ trip is booked and the invitations have gone out, make a point of checking with all concerned that everything is on track. If you are going on a trip - does everyone have the right paperwork - insurance etc. No good doing this a few days before or you could end up with egg on your face.

At the Event
You've done your planning and checked everything twice and now you are at the event. Have fun but don't forget that your are still the organiser so make a point of checking that the main man is having the best time but that he doesn't totally lose it - he won't want to regret his big event.

Take a Few Photos
Great to record the event but make sure that nothing is recorded that could be hurtful or harmful. It's your responsibility to make sure that "what goes on on tour stays on tour".

Get Him to Bed in One Piece
No one should attempt to drive after such a huge night - taxis only. Get the stag to drink a couple of pints of water before he retires. Prevent the huge hangover. A good breakfast is what he needs the next day so have that in your plan as well as a hangover remedy or a least a few headache pills.
